| Crisis
Home Placement Program |
| |
| Northern
California Family Center’s Crisis Homes are licensed foster family
homes that provide temporary, emergency shelter for youth between the
ages of 9-17. |
| |
| Crisis
Homes shelter runaways and at-risk youth. They provide a cooling off
site for children involved in family disputes, crisis, or abuse. Crisis
Homes are meant to act as a neutral setting, one that the parent/guardian
feel is safe, structured, and supervised. Placement gives the family
a chance to receive case management services designed to reunify the
family, or help find an mutually agreed upon place for the youth to
live. NCFC’s services help families find options to cope with
problems at home. |
| |
| The Runaway
and Crisis Home Program is funded by the Federal Government, allowing
us to provide placement services at no charge to the family. While
the youth is in placement, NCFC counselors are available to meet with
the family for two sessions at no charge, to help mediate their options. |
| |
| Children
typically stay from 1-5 nights. The Crisis home program is NOT a health
treatment program, nor a “lock-up” or punitive program
for the out of control youth. It is an emergency shelter program with
case management services available. Youth stay with us on a voluntary
basis, and NCFC makes every effort to keep the child in school during
their stay in a crisis home. |
